क्योंकि हे विष्णो! आकाशको स्पर्श करनेवाले, देदीप्यमान, अनेक वर्णोसे युक्त तथा फैलाये हुए मुख और प्रकाशमान विशाल नेत्रोंसे युक्त आपको देखकर भयभीत अन्त:करणवाला मैं धीरज और शान्ति नहीं पाता हूँ ।। दंष्टाकरालानि च ते मुखानि दृष्टवैव कालानलसंनिभानि । दिशो न जाने न लभे न शर्म प्रसीद देवेश जगन्निवास,दाढ़ोंक कारण विकराल और प्रलयकालकी अग्निके समान प्रज्वलित आपके मुखोंको देखकर मैं दिशाओंको नहीं जानता हूँ और सुख भी नहीं पाता हूँ। इसलिये हे देवेश! हे जगन्निवास! आप प्रसन्न हों;
arjuna uvāca | dṛṣṭvā hi tvāṁ viṣṇo nabhaḥspṛśaṁ dīptam anekavarṇaṁ vyāttānanaṁ dīptaviśālanetraṁ bhītāntarātmā dhṛtiṁ na vindāmi śamaṁ ca viṣṇo || daṁṣṭrākarālāni ca te mukhāni dṛṣṭvaiva kālānalasaṁnibhāni | diśo na jāne na labhe ca śarma prasīda deveśa jagannivāsa ||
అర్జునుడు పలికెను— ఓ విష్ణో! ఆకాశాన్ని తాకుచు, దివ్యంగా జ్వలించుచు, అనేక వర్ణములతో యుక్తమై, విస్తరించిన ముఖములతో, విశాలమైన ప్రకాశమయ నేత్రములతో ఉన్న నిన్ను చూచి నా అంతరాత్మ భయంతో కంపించుచున్నది; నాకు ధైర్యమూ శాంతియూ లభించుటలేదు. ఇంకా, దంతములతో వికరాళమై, ప్రళయకాలాగ్నివలె మండుచున్న నీ ముఖములను చూచి నేను దిక్కులు తెలియక పోవుచున్నాను; ఆశ్రయమూ సుఖమూ దొరకుటలేదు. కావున, ఓ దేవేశా! ఓ జగన్నివాసా! ప్రసన్నుడవగుము.
