Devotion to the Personal vs. Contemplation of the Imperishable
हे अर्जुन! उनके ऊपर अनुग्रह करनेके लिये उनके अन्तःकरणमें स्थित हुआ मैं स्वयं ही उनके अज्ञानजनित अन्धकारको प्रकाशमय तत्त्वज्ञानरूप दीपकके द्वारा नष्ट कर देता हूँ
teṣām evānukampārtham aham ajñānajaṁ tamaḥ | nāśayāmy ātma-bhāva-stho jñāna-dīpena bhāsvatā ||
వారిపై కరుణచూపుటకై, వారి అంతఃకరణంలో నివసించే నేను స్వయంగా అజ్ఞానజనిత అంధకారాన్ని ప్రకాశమయ జ్ఞానదీపంతో నశింపజేస్తాను.
अजुन उवाच
The Divine, moved by compassion, illumines the seeker from within, removing ignorance through the ‘lamp’ of true knowledge—suggesting that ethical clarity and right action arise from inner awakening supported by grace.
In the dialogue context, the Lord explains how He supports those devoted to Him: by dwelling in their hearts and dispelling their ignorance, He enables them to perceive truth and follow dharma amid the pressures of conflict and duty.
