भीष्मसेनासंनिवेशः — Bhīṣma’s Mobilization, Omens, and the Kaurava Array

जयो<स्तु पाण्डुपुत्राणामित्यूचतुररिंदमौ । युयुधाते तवार्थाय यथा स समय: कृत:,कुरुकुलके वृद्ध पितामह भीष्म तथा भरद्वाजनन्दन द्रोणाचार्य--ये दोनों शत्रुदमन महारथी प्रतिदिन सबेरे उठकर मनको संयममें रखते हुए यही आशीर्वाद देते थे कि 'पाण्डवोंकी जय हो”; परंतु वे जैसी प्रतिज्ञा कर चुके थे, उसके अनुसार आपके लिये ही पाण्डवोंके साथ युद्ध करते थे

jayo 'stu pāṇḍuputrāṇām ity ūcatur ariṃdamau | yuyudhāte tavārthāya yathā sa samayaḥ kṛtaḥ ||

ఆ ఇద్దరు శత్రుదమన మహారథులు ‘పాండుపుత్రులకు జయం కలగాలి’ అని పలికినా, తాము చేసిన ఒప్పంద-ప్రతిజ్ఞ ప్రకారం మీ కోసమే పాండవులపై యుద్ధం చేశారు.
