Multiple Defensive Engagements to Protect Bhīṣma
एकी भूतास्तत: सर्वे कुरव: सह पाण्डवै: । अयुध्यन्त महाराज मध्यं प्राप्ते दिवाकरे,महाराज! तत्पश्चात् समस्त कौरव एकत्र संगठित होकर दोपहर होते-होते पाण्डवोंके साथ घोर युद्ध करने लगे
ekībhūtās tataḥ sarve kuravaḥ saha pāṇḍavaiḥ | ayudhyanta mahārāja madhyaṁ prāpte divākare ||
మహారాజా! ఆ తరువాత కౌరవులందరూ పాండవులతో కలిసి ఒకటిగా గుంపుగా చేరి, సూర్యుడు మధ్యాహ్నానికి చేరేసరికి ఘోరంగా యుద్ధం చేయసాగారు।
संजय उवाच
The verse underscores how collective resolve in war can override personal ties: once both sides unite and engage, the conflict proceeds with its own force. Ethically, it highlights the tension between familial bonds and perceived kṣatriya-dharma, showing how duty and allegiance are invoked to justify continued fighting.
Sañjaya reports to the king that the Kaurava forces, together with the Pāṇḍavas in close engagement, have formed consolidated battle formations and are fighting intensely as the day reaches midday.
