Transliteration

dākṣiṇātya adhika-pāṭhake 1220 śloka milākara kula 1273 ślokāḥ santi | āśvamedhika-parva sampūrṇam | anuṣṭup (anya baḍe chanda) baḍe chandōṃ ko 32 akṣaroṃ ke kula-yoga ko anuṣṭup mānakara ginane para uttara-bhāratīya-pāṭhase liye gaye 2747 || (122) 168

Translation

వైశంపాయనుని సంపాదకీయ గమనిక— “దాక్షిణాత్య (దక్షిణ భారత) పాఠములో ఈ భాగమునకు అదనంగా 1,220 శ్లోకములు కలవు; అందువలన ఈ భాగమున మొత్తం 1,273 శ్లోకములు అని లెక్క. ఇట్లా ఆశ్వమేధికపర్వము సమాప్తము. ఛందస్సు లెక్కింపులో కొన్నిసార్లు దీర్ఘ ఛందస్సులను 32 అక్షరాల సమూహమును ఒక అనుష్టుప్‌గా పరిగణించి లెక్కిస్తారు; ఆ విధానమున ఉత్తర భారత పాఠములో సంఖ్య 2,747గా వస్తుంది.”
