Educational Q&A

A gift or act may be offered in a form suited to the recipient and the situation; ethical maturity requires discernment and humility to recognize the true intent rather than judging by appearances.

Uttaṅka addresses a great sage, stating that what was given (contextually, water) was provided in the appropriate form, but the sage failed to understand or recognize it—highlighting a moment of misunderstanding and a corrective explanation.
