Pañcahotṛ-Vidhāna and the Dispute of the Five Vāyus
parasparasya suhṛdo bhāvayantaḥ parasparam | svasti vrajata bhadraṃ vo dhārayadhvaṃ parasparam ||
The verse teaches social dharma through reciprocity: people should depart in peace, remain mutual well-wishers, actively promote one another’s welfare, and ‘uphold’ each other—i.e., sustain community life through support, loyalty, and shared responsibility.
A brāhmaṇa offers a concluding benediction and instruction to a group (addressed in the plural): he blesses them with safety and prosperity and exhorts them to maintain mutual friendship and cooperative support as they go their separate ways.
