Educational Q&A

The verse functions as a narrative colophon: it emphasizes faithful transmission through hearing (śravaṇa) and underscores impermanence—worldly power and long-held attachments culminate in inevitable dissolution, aligning with the parva’s renunciatory and dharmic tone.

Nārada states that he has heard the entire account, and the text formally closes the chapter within the Āśramavāsika Parva, specifically the episode describing how a forest-fire led to the burning/death of Dhṛtarāṣṭra and others.
