ह॒त्वाग्निं विधिवत सर्वे प्रययुस्ते यथाक्रमम् । उदड़्मुखा निरीक्षन्त उपवासपरायणा:,तत्पश्चात् रात बीतनेपर पूर्वाह्लकालकी क्रिया पूरी करके विधिपूर्वक अग्निमें आहुति देनेके पश्चात् वे सब लोग क्रमश: आगे बढ़ने लगे। उन सबने रात्रिमें उपवास किया था और सभी उत्तर दिशाकी ओर मुँह करके उधर ही देखते हुए चले जा रहे थे
hutvā agniṁ vidhivat sarve prayayus te yathākramam | udaṅmukhā nirīkṣanta upavāsaparāyaṇāḥ ||
విధిప్రకారం అగ్నిలో ఆహుతులు సమర్పించి, వారు అందరూ క్రమంగా బయలుదేరారు। ఉపవాసనిష్ఠతో, ఉత్తరముఖంగా ఆ దిశనే చూస్తూ ముందుకు సాగారు।
