धृतराष्ट्रस्य क्षमायाचनं तथा युधिष्ठिरे न्यासदानम् / Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Request for Forgiveness and the Entrustment to Yudhiṣṭhira

तथार्जुनस्तीव्रदु:खाभितप्तो मुहुर्मुहुर्नि:श्वसन्‌ भारता ग्र्यः । युधिष्ठिरं मैवमित्येवमुक्त्वा निगृह्माथो दीनवत्‌ सीदमान:,उस समय भरतवंशके अग्रगण्य वीर अर्जुन दुस्सह दुःखसे संतप्त हो बारंबार लंबी साँस खींचते हुए वहाँ युधिष्ठिससे बोले--“भैया! आप ऐसे अधीर न हो जाइये।” यों कहकर वे उन्हें दोनों हाथोंसे पकड़कर दीनकी भाँति शिथिल होकर बैठ गये

tathārjunas tīvraduḥkhābhitapto muhur muhur niḥśvasan bhāratāgryaḥ | yudhiṣṭhiraṃ maivam ity evam uktvā nigṛhya atho dīnavat sīdamānaḥ ||

అప్పుడు భారతవంశంలో అగ్రగణ్యుడైన వీరుడు అర్జునుడు భరించలేని దుఃఖంతో దగ్ధుడై, మళ్లీ మళ్లీ దీర్ఘ నిశ్వాసాలు విడుస్తూ యుధిష్ఠిరునితో—“అన్నా, ఇలా అధైర్యపడకండి” అని అన్నాడు. అలా చెప్పి అతడిని రెండు చేతులతో పట్టుకొని, తానూ దుఃఖితుడిలా శక్తి సడలిపోయి కూర్చున్నాడు.

In the face of overwhelming sorrow, dharma first appears as compassionate steadiness: one should restrain despair (mā evam) and support those who are collapsing, even when one is oneself afflicted.

Arjuna, deeply distressed and repeatedly sighing, addresses Yudhiṣṭhira to not lose composure; he physically holds him with both hands and then, weakened by grief, sinks down and sits.
