The Duty to Fulfill Promised Gifts
पुत्रान् पौत्रान् पशुंश्वैव बान्धवान् सचिवांस्तथा । पुरं जनपदं चैव शान्तिरिष्टेन पोषयेत्
putrān pautrān paśūṃś caiva bāndhavān sacivāṃs tathā | puraṃ janapadaṃ caiva śāntir iṣṭena poṣayet ||
భీష్ముడు పలికెను—ఇష్టమనే విధిపూర్వక పుణ్యకర్మ ఫలితంగా మనిషి శాంతికి మూలమవుతాడు; అతడు తన కుమారులు, మనవళ్లు, బంధువులు, పశువులు, మంత్రులు, నగరం మరియు జనపదాన్ని కూడా పోషించి వారికి క్షేమాన్ని కలిగిస్తాడు।
