Educational Q&A

A rightful duty, when assigned by legitimate moral-spiritual authority (devas and great seers), should be accepted and performed; fulfilling such a task brings both ethical completion and personal benefit (merit, welfare, or spiritual gain).

In Bhishma’s narration, the assembled gods and foremost sages address a person and formally appoint him to a specific undertaking, urging him to carry it out and indicating that success will yield a significant reward for him as well.
