The verse highlights the ethical weight of samaya (a pledged agreement): when a vow or compact is properly established, divine auspiciousness (Śrī/Lakṣmī) responds in an orderly, principled way—appearing to affirm the pact and then withdrawing, underscoring that prosperity is tied to dharma and faithful observance of commitments.
Bhīṣma narrates that Śrī (Lakṣmī), after making a specific agreement with the cows, disappears on the spot while the cows are still watching, marking the completion of that divine interaction and the sealing of the compact.
