प्राणान् दत्त्वा कपोताय यत् प्राप्ते शिबिना पुरा । तां गतिं लभते दत्त्वा द्विजस्यान्नं विशाम्पते
prāṇān dattvā kapotāya yat prāpte śibinā purā | tāṁ gatiṁ labhate dattvā dvijasya annaṁ viśāmpate prajānātha |
భీష్ముడు అన్నాడు—ప్రజానాథా! పూర్వకాలంలో రాజు శిబి పావురం కోసం తన ప్రాణాలను అర్పించి పొందిన పరమగతిని, బ్రాహ్మణునికి అన్నదానం చేసే వాడూ అదే విధంగా పొందుతాడు।
