Nṛga-upākhyāna: Brāhmaṇa-sva and the Consequence of Misappropriated Gift-Cattle (कृकलास-रूपे नृगोपाख्यानम्)
न कृशां नापवत्सां वा वन्ध्यां रोगान्वितां तथा । नव्यंगां न परिश्रान्तां दद्याद् गां ब्राह्मणाय वै
na kṛśāṃ nāpavatsāṃ vā vandhyāṃ rogānvitāṃ tathā | navy-aṅgāṃ na pariśrāntāṃ dadyād gāṃ brāhmaṇāya vai ||
భీష్ముడు పలికెను—బ్రాహ్మణునికి గోవును దానం చేయునప్పుడు కృశమైనది, దూడను కోల్పోయినది, వంధ్య, రోగగ్రస్త, వికలాంగ, లేదా వృద్ధాప్యంతో అలసిపోయిన గోవును ఇవ్వకూడదు. ధర్మాన్ని గౌరవించేందుకు ఇచ్చే దానం శ్రేష్ఠమై, హితకరమై ఉండాలి; భారంగా కాకూడదు.
