Educational Q&A

The verse highlights that a ruler’s righteous standing is strengthened by honoring and gaining the approval/blessings of Brahmins and the learned; such dharmic endorsement is presented as a cause leading to heavenly attainment.

Bhishma cites an ancient precedent: the royal sage Purūravas, famous as Aila, is said to have reached Svarga because he was commended and blessed by Brahmins—an illustrative example within Bhishma’s instruction on conduct and merit.
