इत्येवं धर्ममालोक्य वेदवेदांश्व सर्वश: । तपश्च विपुलं दृष्टवा गुरोरात्मन एव च
ity evaṁ dharmam ālokya vedavedāṁś ca sarvaśaḥ | tapaś ca vipulaṁ dṛṣṭvā guror ātman eva ca, pṛthvīnātha |
భీష్ముడు పలికెను—ఓ భూమినాథా! ఈ విధంగా ధర్మాన్ని పరిశీలించి, సమస్త వేదములు మరియు వేదాంగములను సమ్యగ్గా విచారించి, గురువుని మరియు తన స్వంత విస్తార తపస్సును దృష్టిలో ఉంచుకొని, భృగువంశీయుడైన విపులుడు గురుపత్నీ రక్షణార్థం మనసులో ముందుగా చెప్పిన ఉపాయాన్నే నిశ్చయించుకున్నాడు. ఆపై అతడు చేసిన మహా ప్రయత్నాన్ని నేను వివరిస్తాను—వినుము.
