अपीडयन् भूत्यवर्गमित्येवमनुशुश्रुम । पीडयन् भृत्यवर्ग हि आत्मानमपकर्षति,परंतु हमने सुना है कि 'जिनके भरण-पोषणका अपने ऊपर भार है उस समुदायको कष्ट दिये बिना ही दाताको दान करना चाहिये। जो पोष्यवर्गको कष्ट देकर या भूखे मारकर दान करता है वह अपने आपको नीचे गिराता है'
apīḍayan bhṛtyavargam ity evam anuśuśruma | pīḍayan bhṛtyavargaṁ hi ātmānam apakarṣati ||
మేము ఇలా విన్నాము—తనపై ఆధారపడిన వారి పోషణభారం ఉన్నవాడు, ఆ ఆధారితవర్గానికి కష్టం కలగకుండా దానం చేయాలి. ఎందుకంటే భృతులనూ ఆశ్రితులనూ బాధపెట్టి దానం చేసే వాడు నిజానికి తననే దిగజార్చుకుంటాడు.
