Educational Q&A

The verse honors ascetics who practice tapas with simplicity and non-attachment: living on minimal food, not hoarding, and remaining steady in disciplined observances. Ethical emphasis falls on self-control, contentment, and duty-based conduct rather than possession or display.

Nārada addresses Yādava (Kṛṣṇa) and offers reverential praise to forest-dwelling practitioners of austerity. The statement functions as a moral commendation within Anuśāsana Parva’s broader instruction on dharma and exemplary modes of life.
