युधिषछ्िर उवाच यदि ते ब्राह्मणा लोके व्रतिनो भुञ्जते हवि: । दत्तं ब्राह्गकामाय कथं तत्‌ सुकृतं भवेत्‌

Transliteration

yudhiṣṭhira uvāca yadi te brāhmaṇā loke vratino bhuñjate haviḥ | dattaṃ brāhma-kāmāya kathaṃ tat sukṛtaṃ bhavet ||

Translation

యుధిష్ఠిరుడు అన్నాడు—పితామహా! ఈ లోకంలో వ్రతధారులైన బ్రాహ్మణులు శ్రాద్ధంలో హవిష్యాన్నాన్ని భుజిస్తే, ‘బ్రాహ్మ’ (శ్రేష్ఠ) ఫలాన్ని కోరుతూ ఇచ్చిన దానం ఎలా సఫలమైన పుణ్యకర్మ అవుతుంది?
