वैशम्पायन उवाच एवमुक्तस्तु गाड़ेय: पाण्डवानिदमब्रवीत्‌ | धृतराष्ट्रमुखां श्वापि सर्वाश्व सुहृदस्तथा,वैशम्पायनजी कहते हैं--जनमेजय! भगवान्‌के ऐसा कहनेपर गंगानन्दन भीष्मने पाण्डवों तथा धृतराष्ट्र आदि सभी सुहृदोंसे कहा--

Vaiśampāyana uvāca: evam uktas tu gāṅgeyaḥ pāṇḍavān idam abravīt | dhṛtarāṣṭra-mukhāṃś ca api sarvān sva-suhṛdas tathā ||

వైశంపాయనుడు అన్నాడు—జనమేజయా, భగవంతుడు ఇలా చెప్పిన తరువాత గంగాపుత్రుడు భీష్ముడు పాండవులకు, అలాగే ధృతరాష్ట్రుని ముందుంచి సమస్త సుహృదులకు ఈ మాటలు చెప్పాడు.
