Shloka 5

मुहूर्तमिव च ध्यात्वा व्यास: सत्यवतीसुतः । नृपं शयानं गाड़ेयमिदमाह वचस्तदा,तब दो घड़ीतक ध्यान करनेके पश्चात्‌ सत्यवती-नन्दन व्यासने वहाँ सोये हुए गंगानन्दन महाराज भीष्मजीसे इस प्रकार कहा--

muhūrtam iva ca dhyātvā vyāsaḥ satyavatīsutaḥ | nṛpaṃ śayānaṃ gāṅgeyam idam āha vacas tadā ||

వైశంపాయనుడు అన్నాడు— కొంతసేపు ధ్యానించిన తరువాత సత్యవతీ కుమారుడు వ్యాసుడు, బాణశయ్యపై శయనించిన గంగాపుత్రుడు భీష్మునితో అప్పుడు ఈ మాటలు పలికాడు.
