नमां मनुष्या: पश्यन्ति न मां पश्यन्ति देवता: । पापेनापिहित: पाप: पापमेवाभिजायते
na māṁ manuṣyāḥ paśyanti na māṁ paśyanti devatāḥ | pāpenāpihitaḥ pāpaḥ pāpam evābhijāyate ||
భీష్ముడు అన్నాడు— “నేను పాపం చేస్తున్నప్పుడు నన్ను మనుష్యులు చూడరు, దేవతలూ చూడరు” అని భావించి, పాపంతో కప్పబడిన పాపాత్ముడు మళ్లీ మళ్లీ పాపమే చేస్తాడు; చివరకు పాపయోనులలోనే జన్మిస్తాడు.
