व्यजयच्छत्रुसंघांश्व देवानां स्वेन तेजसा । अत्रिणा दह्ामानांस्तान् दृष्टवा देवा महासुरान्
vyajayac chatrusaṅghāṁś ca devānāṁ svena tejasā | atriṇā dahyamānāṁs tān dṛṣṭvā devā mahāsurān |
భీష్ముడు పలికెను— తన స్వంత ఆధ్యాత్మిక తేజస్సుతో అతడు దేవతల శత్రుసమూహాలను జయించాడు. అత్రి తేజస్సుతో ఆ మహాసురులు దగ్ధమవుతుండటం చూసి, అత్రి రక్షణలో నిశ్చింతులైన దేవతలు కూడా ఆ సమయంలో తమ పరాక్రమాన్ని ప్రదర్శించి ఆ దైత్యులను సంహరించారు. ఈ విధంగా అత్రి సూర్యుణ్ణి మరింత తేజోవంతుడిగా చేసి, దేవతలను అపాయంనుండి రక్షించి, అసురులను నాశనం చేశాడు।
