नास्याहं न मदीयो<यं पापं कुर्याद्‌ विमानित: । इति दद्याद्‌ भयादेव दृढं मूढाय पण्डित:

bhīṣma uvāca | nāsyāhaṃ na madīyo 'yaṃ pāpaṃ kuryād vimānitaḥ | iti dadyād bhayād eva dṛḍhaṃ mūḍhāya paṇḍitaḥ |

భీష్ముడు పలికెను— ‘నేను ఇతనివాడను కాదు, ఇతడూ నావాడు కాదు; అయినా నేను ఏమీ ఇవ్వకపోతే అవమానితుడై నాపై పాపకర్మ చేయవచ్చు’ అని భయంతోనే పండితుడు మూఢునికి దృఢంగా దానం చేయవలెను; ఇది భయమూలక దానం.
