Śiva-nāmānukīrtana-prastāvaḥ
Prologue to the praise of Śiva and the Upamanyu testimony
तमस: परम ज्योतिस्तपस्तद्वृत्तिनां परम् य॑ ज्ञात्वा नानुशोचन्ति वरं तस्माद् वृणीमहे
tamasāḥ paraṃ jyotis tapaḥ tadvṛttināṃ param | yaṃ jñātvā nānuśocanti varaṃ tasmād vṛṇīmahe ||
ఆయన అజ్ఞాన-తమస్సుకు అతీతమైన చిన్మయ పరమజ్యోతి; తపస్సులో నిమగ్నులైనవారికి పరమ తపస్సు; ఆయనను తెలిసిన జ్ఞానులు ఎప్పుడూ శోకించరు—ఆ భగవాన్ శివుని నుండే మేము వరమును కోరుచున్నాము।
