अग्निकार्येषु वै तेषां हव्यं नाश्नाति पावक: । जो प्रज्वलित यज्ञाग्निमें समिधाकी आहुति नहीं देते, उनके अग्निहोत्रमें अग्निदेव हविष्य ग्रहण नहीं करते हैं (अतः अग्नि प्रज्वलित किये बिना उसे आहुति नहीं देनी चाहिये)
agnikāryeṣu vai teṣāṃ havyaṃ nāśnāti pāvakaḥ |
శక్రుడు పలికెను—అగ్నికార్యాలను నిర్లక్ష్యం చేయువారి హవ్యాన్ని పావకుడు స్వీకరించడు. ప్రజ్వలిత యజ్ఞాగ్నిలో సమిధా ఆహుతి సమర్పించని వారి అగ్నిహోత్రంలో అగ్నిదేవుడు హవిష్యాన్ని గ్రహించడు; కనుక అగ్నిని విధివిధానంగా ప్రజ్వలింపజేసి మాత్రమే ఆహుతి ఇవ్వవలెను.
