गुणवान्‌ विगुणानन्यान्‌ नूनं पश्यसि सत्कृतान्‌ । प्राज्ञो5प्राज्ञान्‌ विनीतात्मा तेनासि हरिण: कृश:

guṇavān viguṇān anyān nūnaṃ paśyasi satkṛtān | prājño 'prājñān vinītātmā tenāsi hariṇaḥ kṛśaḥ ||

బ్రాహ్మణుడు అన్నాడు—“నిశ్చయంగా నీవు చూస్తున్నావు: గుణహీనులు సత్కారము పొందుతున్నారు, గుణవంతులు గౌరవం పొందడం లేదు. నీవు జ్ఞానవంతుడవై, వినయశీలుడవై ఉండి కూడా అజ్ఞులు గౌరవింపబడుట చూచి, ఆ అన్యాయభారంతో హరిణంలా వర్ణం వెలిసిపోయి కృశుడవయ్యావు.”
