Bhaṅgāśvanopākhyāna — On comparative affection in strī–puruṣa union (भङ्गाश्वनोपाख्यानम्)

पुत्रास्ते कतमे राजन्‌ जीवन्त्वेतत्‌ प्रचक्ष्व मे । स्त्रीभूतस्य हि ये जाता: पुरुषस्याथ येडभवन्‌,“इनके इस प्रकार प्रणाम करनेपर इन्द्र संतुष्ट हो गये और वर देनेके लिये उद्यत होकर बोले--राजन! तुम्हारे कौन-से पुत्र जीवित हो जाया? तुमने स्त्री होकर जिन्हें उत्पन्न किया था; वे अथवा पुरुषावस्थामें जो तुमसे उत्पन्न हुए थे?”

bhīṣma uvāca | putrās te katame rājan jīvantv etat pracakṣva me | strībhūtasya hi ye jātāḥ puruṣasyātha ye ’bhavan |

“రాజా! నాకు చెప్పు—నీ కుమారుల్లో ఎవరు జీవించాలి? నీవు స్త్రీభావంలో ఉన్నప్పుడు నీ నుండి పుట్టినవారా, లేక పురుషభావంలో ఉన్నప్పుడు నీ నుండి పుట్టినవారా?”
