The teaching emphasizes disciplined adherence to Vedic duty through correctly established ritual fire and conscientious practice.

One should first establish the sacred fire correctly and then, with diligence, perform all Veda-enjoined rites as taught by qualified Brahmins—highlighting disciplined, authoritative practice of dharma.
In Bhishma’s instruction on dharma (Anushasana Parva), he advises the listener on proper religious conduct: kindle/establish the ritual fires and undertake the full range of Vedic duties according to Brahminical teaching.
