Educational Q&A

Maintain śauca and social responsibility: do not foul cultivated land or areas near habitation, and never contaminate water with urine or feces, since these are shared resources essential for life and ritual purity.

In the Anuśāsana Parva, Bhīṣma is instructing Yudhiṣṭhira on dharma through practical rules of right conduct; here he gives a specific injunction about where one must not relieve oneself.
