Praise of Ācāra as the Basis of Longevity, Fame, and Prosperity

आयुष्मान्‌ केन भवति अल्पायुर्वापि मानव: | केन वा लभते कीर्ति केन वा लभते श्रियम्‌,मनुष्य किस उपायसे दीर्घायु होता है अथवा किस कारणसे उसकी आयु कम हो जाती है? क्या करनेसे वह कीर्ति पाता है या क्या करनेसे उसे सम्पत्तिकी प्राप्ति होती है?

yudhiṣṭhira uvāca |

āyuṣmān kena bhavati alpāyur vāpi mānavaḥ |

kena vā labhate kīrtiṁ kena vā labhate śriyam ||

మనిషి ఏ కారణంతో దీర్ఘాయుష్మంతుడవుతాడు? ఏ కారణంతో అల్పాయుష్మంతుడవుతాడు? ఏద్వారా కీర్తిని పొందుతాడు? ఏద్వారా శ్రీ—సంపదను—సాధిస్తాడు?
