दशैकरात्रान्‌ दशपज्चरात्रा- नेकादशैकादशकान क्रतूंश्न । ज्योतिष्टोमानां च शतं यदिष्ट॑ फलेन तेनापि च नागतो5हम्‌

Bhagīratha uvāca — daśaikarātrān daśapañcarātrān ekādaśaikādaśakān kratūṃś ca | jyotiṣṭomānāṃ ca śataṃ yad iṣṭaṃ phalena tenāpi ca nāgato 'ham ||

భగీరథుడు పలికెను—“నేను ఒక రాత్రిలో పూర్తయ్యే పది యజ్ఞాలు, ఐదు రాత్రుల్లో పూర్తయ్యే పది యజ్ఞాలు, పదకొండు రాత్రుల్లో ముగియే పదకొండు క్రతువులు, ఇంకా జ్యోతిష్టోమమనే వంద యజ్ఞాలు కూడా నిర్వహించితిని; అయినా వాటి ఫలముచేత కూడా నేను ఇక్కడికి రాలేదు.”
