किमिदं नष्टरूपा: स्थ कच्चित्‌ क्षेमं दिवौकसाम्‌ | तामूचुर्वसवो देवा: शप्ता: स्मो वै महानदि

kim idaṁ naṣṭarūpāḥ stha kaccit kṣemaṁ divaukasām | tām ūcur vasavo devāḥ śaptāḥ smo vai mahānadi

వైశంపాయనుడు పలికెను—(గంగ అడిగెను) “ఇది ఏమిటి? మీరు మీ పూర్వ వైభవరూపాన్ని ఎందుకు కోల్పోయారు? స్వర్గవాసులకు క్షేమమేనా?” అప్పుడు వసు దేవులు ఆమెతో పలికిరి—“ఓ మహానదీ, మేము శపింపబడితిమి.”
