Śakuntalā-Janma-Nāmakaraṇa (Birth and Naming of Śakuntalā) | शकुन्तला-जन्म-नामकरणम्
योगसक्ता जगत् कृत्स्नमसक्ता विचचार ह । प्रभासस्य तु भार्या सा वसूनामष्टमस्य ह,देवल नामक सुप्रसिद्ध मुनिको प्रत्यूषका पुत्र माना जाता है। देवलके भी दो पुत्र हुए। वे दोनों ही क्षमावान् और मनीषी थे। बृहस्पतिकी बहिन स्त्रियोंमें श्रेष्ठ एवं ब्रह्मवादिनी थीं। वे योगमें तत्पर हो सम्पूर्ण जगत्में अनासक्त भावसे विचरती रहीं। वे ही वसुओंमें आठवें वसु प्रभासकी धर्मपत्नी थीं
yogasaktā jagat kṛtsnam asaktā vicacāra ha | prabhāsasya tu bhāryā sā vasūnām aṣṭamasya ha ||
వైశంపాయనుడు పలికెను— యోగమున లీనమైయుండి కూడా ఆసక్తిరహిత భావముతో సమస్త జగత్తంతటా ఆమె సంచరించెను। ఆమె వసువులలో ఎనిమిదవ వసువు ప్రభాసుని ధర్మపత్నీ—ఆధ్యాత్మిక దృష్టి, నియమశీలతలతో ప్రసిద్ధురాలు; లోకములో తిరుగుచున్నా అంతరంగమున వైరాగ్యమును నిలుపుకొనినది।
