आशीविषै: कृष्णसर्प: सुप्तं चैनमदंशयत् | सर्वेष्वेवाड्गदेशेषु न ममार च शत्रुहा,एक दिन दुर्योधनने भीमसेनको सोते समय उनके सम्पूर्ण अंग-प्रत्यंगोंमें काले साँपोंसे डँसवा दिया, किंतु शत्रुधाती भीम मर न सके
Āśīviṣaiḥ kṛṣṇasarpaḥ suptaṃ cainam adaṃśayat | sarveṣv evāṅgadeśeṣu na mamāra ca śatruhā ||
వైశంపాయనుడు పలికెను— నిద్రిస్తున్న భీమసేనుని దుర్యోధనుడు విషసర్పములైన నల్ల పాములతో అతని సమస్త అవయవములపై కరవింపజేసెను; అయినను శత్రుహా భీముడు మరణింపలేదు।
