Educational Q&A

The verse underscores how divine power and cosmic order can intervene in human acts driven by anger. Even when a king employs ritual force to pursue vengeance, higher beings may act to preserve balance, reminding readers that dharma is not merely personal will but alignment with a wider moral-cosmic order.

During Janamejaya’s snake-sacrifice aimed at summoning Takṣaka, Indra himself mounts his vimāna and moves through the sky. The gods praise him, while clouds, Vidyādharas, and Apsarases follow—signaling Indra’s active involvement in the unfolding conflict between the sacrifice’s pull and divine resistance.
