स एवमुक्तः प्रत्युवाच नानृतमूचतुर्भगवन्ती न त्वहमेतमपूपमुपयोक्तुमुत्सहे गुरवेडनिवेद्येति,उनके ऐसा कहनेपर उपमन्यु बोला--'भगवन्! आपने ठीक कहा है, तथापि मैं गुरुजीको निवेदन किये बिना इस पूएको अपने उपयोगमें नहीं ला सकता”
sa evam uktaḥ pratyuvāca—nānṛtam ūcatuḥ bhagavantī; na tv aham etam apūpam upayoktum utsahe gurave ’nivedya iti.
అలా చెప్పగానే ఉపమన్యు ప్రత్యుత్తరం ఇచ్చాడు—“భగవంతులారా! మీరు అసత్యం పలకలేదు; కానీ గురువుకు నివేదించకుండా ఈ పూపాన్ని భుజించడానికి నాకు ధైర్యం లేదు.”
