खाण्डवदाहे देवविमुखता तथा मयदानवाभयदानम् | Khāṇḍava Burning: Devas Withdraw; Maya Granted Protection
कथं हि शिरसो मध्ये कृतं तेन पं मम । मर्षयिष्यामि गोविन्द पादस्पर्शमिवोरग:,“गोविन्द! जैसे सर्प पैरकी ठोकर नहीं सह सकता, उसी प्रकार मैं उसने जो मेरे सिरपर पैर रख दिया है, उसे कैसे सह सकूँगा?
kathaṁ hi śiraso madhye kṛtaṁ tena paṁ mama | marṣayiṣyāmi govinda pādasparśam ivoragaḥ ||
వైశంపాయనుడు పలికెను—గోవిందా! అతడు నా శిరస్సు మధ్యలో పాదం పెట్టినట్లైంది; నేను దాన్ని ఎలా సహించగలను? పాదస్పర్శాన్ని సర్పం సహించలేనట్లే, నేనూ ఈ అవమానాన్ని సహించలేను।
