The verse cautions that a culture dominated by constant calls to consume, revel, and drink can eclipse self-restraint and dharma. Even acts that look positive (like ‘give!’) may become part of ostentatious pleasure rather than ethical responsibility.
Nārada describes the prevailing atmosphere in society: everywhere people are urged toward feasting, enjoyment, merriment, song, and drink. It functions as a vivid snapshot of widespread prosperity or decadence, depending on the surrounding context.
