Educational Q&A

External conditions—intelligence, age, and even the presence or absence of allies—do not fully determine success; when fate aligns (daiva-yoga), anyone may attain results. The verse cautions against arrogance and simplistic moral judgments based solely on visible merit or support.

Karna is speaking and articulating a worldview in which destiny plays a decisive role in worldly attainment. His statement frames events as driven not only by personal qualities and alliances but also by the unpredictable turn of daiva.
