Ādi-parva Adhyāya 141: Bhīma–Hiḍimba Confrontation and Protective Discourse
राज्ञे च प्रेषयामासुर्य थावृत्तं निवेदितुम् । संवृत्तस्ते महान् काम: पाण्डवान् दग्धवानसि,तथा राजा धृतराष्ट्रके पास यथावत् समाचार कहनेके लिये किसीको भेजकर कहलाया --“कुरुनन्दन! तुम्हारा महान् मनोरथ पूरा हो गया। पाण्डवोंको तुमने जला दिया। अब तुम कृतार्थ हो जाओ और पुत्रोंके साथ राज्य भोगो।” यह सुनकर पुत्रसहित धृतराष्ट्र शोकमग्न हो गये
rājñe ca preṣayāmāsur yathāvṛttaṃ niveditum | saṃvṛttas te mahān kāmaḥ pāṇḍavān dagdhavān asi ||
అదే విధంగా జరిగిన వార్తను రాజుకు తెలియజేయుటకు వారు దూతను పంపి ఇలా చెప్పించారు—“ఓ కురునందన! నీ మహా కోరిక నెరవేరింది; నీవు పాండవులను దహించావు. ఇక కృతార్థుడై కుమారులతో కలిసి రాజ్యాన్ని అనుభవించు.” ఇది విని ధృతరాష్ట్రుడు కుమారులతో సహా శోకంలో మునిగిపోయాడు।
