वैशम्पायन उवाच पूर्वमेव तु सम्मन्त्रय पार्थो द्रोणमथाब्रवीत्‌ | दर्पोद्रेकात्‌ कुमाराणामाचार्य द्विजसत्तमम्‌,वैशम्पायनजी कहते हैं--जनमेजय! कौरवों तथा अन्य राजकुमारोंको अपने बल और पराक्रमका बड़ा घमंड था; इसलिये अर्जुनने पहले ही अच्छी तरह सलाह करके विप्रवर द्रोणाचार्यसे कहा--

Transliteration

vaiśampāyana uvāca pūrvam eva tu sammantrya pārtho droṇam athābravīt | darpodrekāt kumārāṇām ācārya dvijasattamam ||

Translation

వైశంపాయనుడు పలికెను—ఓ జనమేజయా! రాజకుమారుల బలపరాక్రమ గర్వం అతిగా పెరిగినందున, పార్థుడు (అర్జునుడు) ముందుగానే సలహా చేసుకొని ద్విజశ్రేష్ఠుడైన ఆచార్య ద్రోణునితో ఇలా పలికెను।
