इत्युक्त: पुनरेवाथ तं दाश: प्रत्यभाषत । चिकीर्षुर्दुष्करं कर्म राज्यार्थे भरतर्षभ,भरतवंशावतंस जनमेजय! देवव्रतके ऐसा कहनेपर निषाद उनसे फिर बोला। वह राज्यके लिये उनसे कोई दुष्कर प्रतिज्ञा कराना चाहता था

ity uktaḥ punar evātha taṃ dāśaḥ pratyabhāṣata | cikīrṣur duṣkaraṃ karma rājyārthe bharatarṣabha ||

వైశంపాయనుడు పలికెను—ఓ భరతశ్రేష్ఠా! అలా చెప్పిన తరువాత మత్స్యకారుడు అతనిని మళ్లీ సంభోదించాడు. రాజ్యార్థం కోసం అతనితో ఒక దుష్కర కార్యం—కఠిన ప్రతిజ్ఞ—చేయించాలనుకున్నాడు.
