अनेन च कुमारेण त्वया दत्तेन कि कृतम् । यस्य चैव कृतेनायं मानुषेषु निवत्स्यति,और तुम्हारे दिये हुए इस पुत्रने कौन-सा कर्म किया है, जिसके कारण यह मनुष्यलोकमें निवास करेगा

वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse frames human birth and continued residence in the human realm as connected to karma: a specific deed is implied to determine why the boy will live among humans, highlighting moral causality and responsibility.
Vaiśampāyana poses a pointed question to a listener addressed as ‘you’: regarding a boy ‘given by you,’ he asks what action the boy has performed such that his fate is to dwell in the human world—setting up an explanation of the boy’s past deed and its consequence.
