उमामहेश्वरव्रतं—पञ्चाक्षरमन्त्रस्य माहात्म्यं, न्यासः, जपविधिः, सदाचारः, विनियोगः

सूत उवाच पुरा देवेन रुद्रेण देवदेवेन शंभुना पार्वत्याः कथितं पुण्यं प्रवदामि समासतः

sūta uvāca purā devena rudreṇa devadevena śaṃbhunā pārvatyāḥ kathitaṃ puṇyaṃ pravadāmi samāsataḥ

సూతుడు పలికెను—పూర్వకాలంలో దేవదేవుడైన రుద్రుడు—శంభువు—పార్వతికి చెప్పిన పుణ్యప్రద ఉపదేశాన్ని నేను సంక్షేపంగా వివరిస్తాను.
