FAQs

This verse highlights disciplined service—food is offered as an act of dharma under rightful instruction, emphasizing reverence toward those receiving it (especially brāhmaṇas) and proper ritual conduct.

In the Preta Kanda, correct performance of offerings and respectful ritual behavior supports dharmic merit; such merit is repeatedly presented as beneficial for the departed and the household performing rites.

Serve food with humility and order, honor those engaged in sacred duties, and maintain respectful distance and decorum during rituals—treating giving as a disciplined spiritual practice, not display.
