Lord Vishnu (narrating to Garuda/Vinata-putra)

Concept: Mānasa-sṛṣṭi: the Lord (Brahmā) produces beings through mind-power; subtle intention precedes gross manifestation.

Vedantic Theme: Primacy of mind in experienced reality (manomaya): the world’s forms are contingent and arise from subtle causes; encourages disidentification from mere appearances.

Application: Train the mind (manonigraha) through japa, dhyāna, and ethical clarity; recognize that sustained thought-patterns ‘create’ one’s lived world.

Primary Rasa: adbhuta

Secondary Rasa: shanta

FAQs

This verse situates Kaśyapa within Brahmā’s lineage of mind-born progenitors, establishing a key link in the Purāṇic genealogy through which many beings and lineages are later traced.

It states that Brahmā “produced” Kaśyapa ‘by the mind’ (manasā), indicating creation through will and mental power rather than physical generation.

It highlights the Purāṇic emphasis on disciplined mind and intention—suggesting that inner resolve and clarity of purpose are foundational to responsible action and generative work.
