Lord Vishnu (in instruction to Garuda/Vinata-putra)
Concept: Antaryāmin-smaraṇa in avatāra forms becomes a means to conquer inner and outer adversities (parājaya of duḥkha, fear, temptation).
Vedantic Theme: Īśvara-anugraha through upāsanā; transformation of mind (antaḥkaraṇa-śuddhi) leading toward steadiness in the Self.
Application: Use Rāma/Kṛṣṇa dhyāna during crises; pair japa with visualization of the Lord within the heart to reduce anxiety and strengthen resolve.
Primary Rasa: vira
Secondary Rasa: shanta
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 3.12.63 (not merely sage/brāhmaṇa; inner Lord); Garuda Purana 3.12.66 (cidānanda contemplation)
This verse presents avatar-centered contemplation as a direct method to focus on the indwelling divine reality (antaras) and stabilize devotion and insight.
By emphasizing inner contemplation (vicintana) through Vishnu’s forms, it points to purification of mind and orientation toward the divine—key supports for the soul’s higher course beyond fear and confusion.
Choose a Vishnu form (Rāma or Kṛṣṇa), meditate daily on the divine presence within, and consciously frame recurring obstacles as inner foes to be overcome through steady remembrance and disciplined living.
