Lord Viṣṇu (teaching Garuḍa/Vainateya)
Concept: Inner ‘snāna’ through jñāna and dhyāna removes rāga-dveṣa impurities and yields the highest attainment.
Vedantic Theme: Rāga-dveṣa-kṣaya and antaḥkaraṇa-śuddhi as direct supports for mokṣa; jñāna-dhyāna synergy (nididhyāsana).
Application: Daily contemplative practice: study (jñāna) + meditation (dhyāna) + deliberate release of attachment/aversion via self-inquiry and equanimity training.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
Type: mānasa-tīrtha (inner pilgrimage-place)
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.81.23 (Brahma-dhyāna as supreme tīrtha); Garuda Purana 1.81.25 (external tīrtha for bheda-darśins)
This verse presents inner purification as a true sacred bath: cultivating knowledge and meditation cleanses attachment and aversion, leading toward the highest spiritual attainment.
It emphasizes that liberation is supported by inner cleansing—reducing rāga and dveṣa through jñāna and dhyāna—rather than relying only on external rites.
Practice daily meditation and self-inquiry to weaken compulsive likes/dislikes; treat this as an inner ‘snāna’ that steadily aligns actions with dharma and supports spiritual freedom.
